Kenya Launches New Fibre Link Posted on: 03/04/2006 Kenya Data Networks has launched a fibre optic link between Mombasa and Nairobi. The project has been implemented in partnership with Siemens at a cost of US$300 million. The company has installed a high speed fibre optic cable within Nairobi’s Central Business District, Upper Hill and Westlands. Under the project, the company intends to reach 80 per cent of Kenyans by 2008. KDN is among the eight licensed data service provides and 15 local loop operators. The fibre optic backbone is expected to reach Busia by the end of the year to connect Uganda’s Telkom and its leading mobile phone operator, MTN.News story posted by: BroadGroup
